Billy Campbell has joined the DELIRIUM Pilot Cast!

According to TVLine.comThe Killing’s star is on board for the pilot, and what will hopefully be the TV Series.
Campbell will play Thomas Fineman in the project, which is set in a world where love is deemed illegal and is able to be eradicated with a special procedure.
[…]
The pilot’s script was written by Karyn Usher (Prison Break), who will serve as an EP alongside Peter Chernin and Katherine Pope.
Remember that in the Pilot alone we’ll have the entire Delirium plot, plus other bits and pieces from Requiem, so we’ll jump straight to the thick of the action!

I love him as Thomas! What are your thoughts?

TV Pilot News: Changes to be expected

11:53 AM Posted by Ella Preuss

Thanks to DeliriumFandom, I found this very interesting article about the changes the producers want to make to the Delirium storyline, in order to make it more appealling to viewers:

1. Julian Fineman. In the novels, Julian is a character introduced in the second book, “Pandemonium.” His father is a public figure, leading the DFA — Deliria-Free America — cause against the Invalids. In the proposed television series, Julian is introduced right off the bat, as a sickly young man who lives next door to Lena’s best friend, Hana, and is confused by his powerful attraction to her, though she’s not particularly interested. Yes — Julian and Hana.

2. Lena’s mother. In the novels, Lena’s mother’s suicide makes Lena long for the cure and fear the dangers of love. In the pilot, it’s actually Lena’s father who she believes died because he was infected with “Deliria.” When she learns some shocking revelations about what actually happened to him, she’s driven to take drastic measures.

3. Ren. The pilot introduces a new character, Ren, another Invalid who is Alex’s best friend. Though Alex falls hard and fast for Lena, he’s oblivious to the fact that Ren’s feelings for him go beyond friendship. She’s a key part of the Invalid’s plan to resist the DFA, and ultimately goes undercover to infiltrate the government she’s planning to revolt against.

4. Pacing. The first episode of the TV series actually covers the entire plot of the first book, in addition to including information about Julian and the DFA that readers didn’t learn until the sequel. Of course, in order to cram all of that into 42 minutes, there are certain moments that are lost — particularly key bonding moments between Alex and Lena, like when he took her to his home in the Wilds, and the first time she was introduced to poetry. We’re hopeful that those things will come into play later.

The entire plot of Delirium into a single pilot sounds like a risky move, but I understand it completely. The producers wouldn’t want to waste any time getting to the thick of the action, and I get the feeling these changes won’t be so bad.

The Julian plot is what I liked less, but again, it makes sense that they want to introduce him early in the story.

New Titles Coming From Lauren Oliver!

12:06 PM Posted by Bonnie @ A Backwards Story

Sad that REQUIEM's release date is only a couple of months away, marking the end of the fabulous Delirium Trilogy?

Whatever will you read next?

How about...MORE Lauren Oliver Books?

In 2014, Lauren is releasing her first novel for adults, ROOMS.  Not much is known about this one yet because HarperCollins/Ecco is keeping everything under wraps.  But, uh....I already want it?  Lauren Oliver is that good of an author.

If you're not ready to leave the world of Delirium just yet, there are two treats in store for you!  Lauren wrote two more e-novellas in the vein of HANA.

The first, ANNABEL, will be released on December 26th.  Happy belated holidays to YOU!  This novella will take a look at Lena's mother!

The second new novella, RAVEN, will release on March 5th alongside its momma, REQUIEM.

For those who don't like e-books or don't have a way to read them or, heck, just want their own shiny copies to sit alongside their print copies of Lauren's other books, you're in luck!  On March 5th, HarperCollins is ALSO releasing a paperback anthology that gathers together all three stories (and perhaps some additional treats?)!  It's currently titled: DELIRIUM STORIES: Hana, Annabel, and Raven.

Okay, I don't know about you, but even though I have HANA as an ebook on my nook, I want that paperback copy because I own all of Lauren's book's in hardcover and they'll look so pretty and shiny together!

Besides DELIRIUM, Lauren Oliver has also written the best-selling stand-alone novel BEFORE I FALL (her debut!), as well as two stand-alone novels for children, charming LIESL & PO, and creepy THE SPINDLERS!  Check them out for more Lauren Oliver love if you haven't already done so!

Read HANA for free...FOUR DAYS ONLY!

10:22 AM Posted by Bonnie @ A Backwards Story

Congratulations, DF fans!  Thank you so much for helping to spread the word about pre-ordering PANDEMONIUM.

Lauren hit her goal of 5,000+ pre-orders and has gifted us with HANA in its entirety.

You can read it right here on MTV for free...but only for four days!

Are you excited?  I know I am!  HANA had been going to tide me over until PANDEMONIUM came out...and then we got an ARC it at work.  So now it will hold me over until REQUIEM comes out!

For those who don't remember, Hana is Lena's best friend from DELIRIUM...and she'll be in REQUIEM in a big way!

....You're still here?  What are you waiting for?  Go, read.  NOW! ^.~

Pre-order PANDEMONIUM to read HANA for free on V-Day!

8:00 AM Posted by Bonnie @ A Backwards Story

Great news, DELIRIUM fans!  We're getting not one but TWO new additions to the DELIRIUM series this month!

You all know about PANDEMONIUM already, of course.

But do you know about Lauren's upcoming novella HANA?

It's based around--you guessed it--Lena's friend Hana's POV.  I was always interested in what was going on with Hana and sad when we saw the last of her (or DID we?  Lauren has hinted that she'll be returning in REQUIEM, the trilogy's jaw-dropping conclusion!).

I'm eagerly awaiting the release of this novella!

And....there's a chance that we can read it for FREE--and early--next week!

How, you ask?  By pre-ordering PANDEMONIUM this week!  Yesterday, Lauren blogged that if 5,000 people pre-order the novel, MTV.com will release HANA in its entirety for FOUR DAYS starting on VALENTINE'S DAY.

That doesn't leave us much time at all!  If you're a member of Deliriously Falling, then you're already a Lauren Oliver fan.  So get out there and post this on your blogs, on Twitter, on Goodreads, on Facebook...wherever you can!!!

Let's help Lauren reach her goal--and the New York Times Best Sellers List!!!

Fan Art: Delirium Inspired Quote Book

12:47 PM Posted by Ella Preuss

I think it's great when a reader is inspired by something -in our case, Lauren's book- and decides to make something beautiful.

Today I want to share with you some photos from the Quote Book Chelsea made after reading Delirium.

Chelsea runs A Curious Reader, a super cute book blog. On there, she has a section called Inspired to Art, which you should totally check out.

I adore this little book she made, which was why I asked her if we could share the pics on the blog, and she was so glad, she said yes!

We love how inspired you were, Chelsea!
If any of you have anything you want to show us, something you made after inspiration hit you, be it a story, a song, a painting, anything, email us!

Reviews from Around the Globe: Libros por Leer reviewed DELIRIUM

9:27 AM Posted by Ella Preuss

A Spanish boy read and reviewed DELIRIUM, and he LOVED it! YAY, another Lauren fan!

I thought I'd give it a six over five, but I've remained firm and decided to keep that rating for its sequel, which, I hope, lives up to it. That being said, I can go crazy.  Shghgjsuuuwwlliigig!!bgagbjsgigigiigs y también gusaiusdgbjjjguwerbnig. It's such a hard novel to review...
I don't know what to think: if Lauren Oliver is mean, or if she's just a writing goddess.

ALEX LIVES!

8:17 AM Posted by Ella Preuss

(spoilers for those of you who haven't read DELIRIUM)

...maybe. OK, that was mean, I know. But lately we've been getting a lot of comments on the Pandemonium summary post, mostly saying that Lauren can't possibly kill Alex, that he and Lena have to be reunited.

I fully support this! Delirium's ending was heartbreaking, just the thought of Alex getting killed made me cry so bad. I'll be reading Delirium again soon, to prepare for Pandemonium's release.

But in the meantime I wanted to ask you: What would you say to Lauren about Alex being left behind, and Lena possibly falling for someone from the Wilds?

Tell us in the comments, we'll gather it all up and send it off to her!

Lauren's thoughts on Delirium's new covers

9:38 AM Posted by Ella Preuss

When we posted Delirium's new covers, I just couldn't remember what colour Lena's eyes were. The new UK paperback cover's Lena's got blue eyes, while the Special Edition cover's Lena's eyes are brown. So, I thought I'd ask Lauren to clear any doubts.

Special Edition Cover
Ella: I've noticed the big blue eyes on the new UK cover for Delirium. But, on the US Special Edition cover, the model's got brown eyes. Since I can't remember what colour are Lena's eyes, I thought I'd ask you.

What do you think of these new covers? Do you like them more than the original one? I'm in love with the Special Edition's cover. The girl's eye is so haunting!

Lauren: Yeah, it's funny... covers don't necessarily EXACTLY represent the main character accurately... I think they just need to reflect the book's sensibility. Lena does have brown eyes and brown hair, though. I LOVE the special edition cover, personally--I like it even better than the original!

I like it better than the original too!
How about you?

New covers for Delirium!

12:00 AM Posted by Ella Preuss

Look! Ohhh, so pretty! And lovely!

With this new cover, they're releasing Delirium on Paperback in the UK.

Ella: I quite like it. LOVE her big blue eyes (I can't remember what colour are Lena's eyes right now, though), and the colour treatment on the photo is beautiful. Looks do say a lot. What do you girls think?

Bonnie: The first thing I notice are the model's huge eyes. They're a really pretty color, too, and pick up the background. I also like that she has freckles. That's one thing I liked about the cover treatment for Jenny Han's THE SUMMER I TURNED PRETTY. The model looks like an ordinary girl. I like that the subtext is linked to the title.

Cary: This cover is softer to me than the original. It catches me off guard in a way because the original cover is so intense. I do like this cover though, the model is beautiful and everything comes together quite nicely. I think I would have preferred the same font on this one as the original hardcover, but this one truly is lovely. I just feel that with it being such an intense book, the cover should match that.

Marisa: I'm actually not a big fan of this cover compared to the US & UK hardcovers. The girls eyes are gorgeous, don't get me wrong. But I adore the color of the US cover, and the effect of the girl being behind the title. This cover is nice, but it just doesn't strike me as much as previous ones.

Reggie: I agree with Marisa. This isn't my favorite cover for DELIRIUM. The girl on the cover is good, her eyes really capture the reader, and her freckles make her look like an ordinary girl but I don't really like the cover scheme and it isn't as aesthetically sound as the US HC cover and the UK HC.

Ella: And this new Special Edition cover! I think I'm in love with it. I love it even more than the UK one, this girl's eye tells you so much. ADORE it.

Again, I've no idea what colour are Lena's eyes, so I've asked Lauren. We'll see what she says.

Marisa: Ooh, I actually really like this one! Much more than the UK one. I like that it stays with the cool tones, and placement of the title with that green shadow is nice. I like this model better than the other one too. There's something about that intense expression that really draws the reader in.

Bonnie: This is my favorite of the two as well. I love all the earthy green and the make-up on the model. Her eyes are really pretty, and her lips are a great color. I love the green blur around the tittle and author. It looks really, really nice. As much as I love my shiny blue cover, *wants*

Reggie: I like this cover more than the first one. The model is really great and her eyes are just stunning. The colors of her lips and her eyes really contrast the earthy-feel of the background. However, the original US cover remains to be my favorite because in that one, the model is just amazing and the whole concept of the cover is really unique.

Lauren in London!

10:24 PM Posted by Ella Preuss

I just logged on to my You Tube account to make my IMM vlog, and this was in my Suggestions. Such a beautiful video! It looks like everyone had a fabulous time -and tea!- and I just adore the song for Delirium that you can hear in the background.

Also, an English blogger, Tara, blogged about Lauren's visit to London. Read her full post here.

She's getting two copies! Who could the extra be for?

Lauren à Toulouse! Listen to her singing!!!

11:49 AM Posted by Ella Preuss

We have more photos from another French blogger, Laura, who was at a signing in Toulouse. She was kind enough to contact us and share her stuff with us. If you're French, or want to read the post in French, go here to her original post.

Lauren looks very concentrated on signing her books!
Lauren and Laura, the French blogger!
Laura says in her post that Lauren read the first chapter of Delirium to them, but that, unfortunately, they hadn't brought the French copy of Before I Fall, which will be coming out on April 6th in France and will be titled "Le dernier jour de ma vie".
Lauren and the atendees looking awesome.

A drawing a boy named Louis made for Lauren. I think it's just like her!

Lauren also sang a song! Listen as she sings "The Little Mermaid"! I think she did a great job :)

You wanna know what Lauren's signature looks like? Well, here it is!

"Dear Laura, I'm so glad to have finally met you! Thank you so much for having come, and I hope to see you again next time I visit Toulouse."
Merci Laura pour donner ces photos and video!

Remember to let us know if Lauren made an appearance at your local library and you took pics and/or filmed it. We'll feature you too!

DELIRIUM's Spanish Reviews

12:15 AM Posted by Ella Preuss

Delirium was recently published in Spain, and it's already one of the most talked about topics in Spanish blogs.  I took some of these reviews and translated a little of them for you.

Luna Lunera (Diario de una Lunática) gave it 5 Moons:
The good, that narrating style, intimate and confessional, loaded with brilliant phrases; the best, the story. The genius idea of creating a story from the ridiculous notion of love being a disease. The bad, that it's a trilogy, and that it also has an ending that leaves us aching for the sequel.
Noche de Palabras gave it 4 Owls:
My least favourite thing: THE ENDING. Dear Lauren: how could you finish it there? If there's something I get furious about is finishing a novel that leaves a tons of loose ends, and worse, if the book ends in a very important moment.
Book Eater gave it 4 Books:
I've already commented on the ending, but I can't help but to talk more about it. It's been a long time since I read an ending like this one. I was unable to tear myself from those last pages, and I had to reread them to make sure I hadn't missed out on anything important. It will make you have mixed feelings, it'll make you want to scream, laugh, cry, kill the author (with kisses), anyway... just AMAZING.
Literatura Youth Fantasy gave it 5 Shields:
I fell in love with chapter 14, and to me, that's when things begin to actually happen.
I mean, during that chapter, I hugged a pillow (which I nearly destroyed), I almost threw my milk on myself, I threw a breadstick (don't ask me why or where) that landed somewhere behind my computer table and I still know nothing of it, etc...
I think I was just as upset as -maybe even more upset than- Lena, with the whole raids thing.
Are you a Spanish speaker? Then visit those blogs, because they're really cool!

DELIRIUM is out NOW in Spain!

1:57 PM Posted by Ella Preuss

Delirium is out in Spanish, so if you're from Spain (Hola!), GO BUY THE BOOK NOW!

The Spanish version of Delirium was released last Friday, 4th, by Spanish Editorial SM.

I love the cover; the colour, not so much, but the graphics, yes! Love the idea of barbed wire and roses, so poetic! And I also love that they kept the original title.
Delirium in Spanish is Delirio, so it's not that far off.

I'm crossing my fingers for it to reach Latin America soon!

Emily's Reading Room reviewed Delirium

6:22 PM Posted by Ella Preuss

I love this review, Emily says just what she thinks, and she has some excellent points!
She gave it four stars.

As a lover of all things dystopian, I was very eagerly anticipating a chance to read this book. In many ways, the book met my expectations, but in others I was left feeling a little bewildered.

Lauren answers YOUR questions! Watch the video interview!

10:25 AM Posted by Ella Preuss

We asked you if you had questions for Lauren, and you gave us some. Now you can see if she answered your question!

Watching Lauren make a video is hilarious, so you won't want to miss these!

I also want to apologise for uploading them so late. We originally had another thing in mind, but I've just been so busy, what with my moving to another city and starting uni, I really didn't have time to edit them, and I wouldn't know how either; my brother was supposed to help me there.

I hope you enjoyed them, and remember to leave us and Lauren a message here in the comments! She gets every single greeting, I promise you.
