Pre-order PANDEMONIUM to read HANA for free on V-Day!
8:00 AM Posted by Bonnie @ A Backwards Story
You all know about PANDEMONIUM already, of course.
But do you know about Lauren's upcoming novella HANA?
It's based around--you guessed it--Lena's friend Hana's POV. I was always interested in what was going on with Hana and sad when we saw the last of her (or DID we? Lauren has hinted that she'll be returning in REQUIEM, the trilogy's jaw-dropping conclusion!).
I'm eagerly awaiting the release of this novella!
And....there's a chance that we can read it for FREE--and early--next week!
How, you ask? By pre-ordering PANDEMONIUM this week! Yesterday, Lauren blogged that if 5,000 people pre-order the novel, MTV.com will release HANA in its entirety for FOUR DAYS starting on VALENTINE'S DAY.
That doesn't leave us much time at all! If you're a member of Deliriously Falling, then you're already a Lauren Oliver fan. So get out there and post this on your blogs, on Twitter, on Goodreads, on Facebook...wherever you can!!!
Let's help Lauren reach her goal--and the New York Times Best Sellers List!!!
Around the World Covers: Pandemonium and Cinder
5:07 PM Posted by Ella Preuss
Hi everyone! Today I bring you a new feature, yay! Since I also blog in Spanish, I see a lot of the Spanish covers as well as the English ones. And I like to compare them, too, so I thought I'd share my thoughts with you, here. I also plan on making a button for this feature :D Click on the images to enlarge.
A couple of days ago, Lauren shared on her blog the UK cover for Pandemonium:
And, let me tell you, I'm not a fan. I do like the orange-iness of it, resembling the US cover, but it's got nothing to do with Delirium's UK cover, and I don't appreciate it when my covers don't match.
It looks like it's Lena in the Wilds, so that's a plus. But I prefer the US cover a hundred times over this one.
Now it's Cinder's turn, this fairy tale retelling/dystopia:
Compared to the US cover, I like this one better.
It matches the fairy tale vibe of it, and also, look at her awesome leg and arm!
Montena, the Spanish publisher, did a great job with it :)
The series is called The Lunar Chronicles; can you see the half moon that is the C? Love it.
What do you guys think?

Niva from Equinoccio reviewed Pandemonium and called the series a "literary jewel".
2:11 PM Posted by Ella Preuss
SM, Lauren's Spanish publisher, held a contest a while ago, and the prize was a Pandemonium ARC. A few Spanish readers got the chance to read the book before it hits stores in February.
I fell in love with Delirium. I was hooked for hours. I found a wonderful story, brilliantly written. How was I to imagine that Lauren Oliver could overcome something like retry its own history, surprise me, keep me in suspense for nearly four hundred pages giving myself a finale, how I would imagine that Pandemonium would far exceed any expectations that I had created, it would be surprising, unexpected, exciting, emotional. That would be what I've found, proving beyond doubt that Oliver is one of the best YA writers we can find and her dystopian saga is a real jewel.
Niva said "Lauren has prodigious pen, and that she turns everything she writes into music for our ears." Which, to me, is exactly right. She also said she was angry at Lauren for having ended the book the way she did, which makes me wonder what sort of cliffhanger awaits us at the end of the book!
Have you snatched up an ARC somewhere or are you waiting for the book to come out on Feb 28th, like me?

Lauren is in TIME Magazine!
1:07 PM Posted by Ella Preuss
According to Lauren, "In a really funny article detailing the media, sports, and political face-offs to watch for in the new year, TIME has Pandemonium (the second book in the Delirium trilogy) pitted against Insurgent by Veronica Roth (which is also the second in a YA trilogy)."
Go say congrats to Lauren!

Recreate PANDEMONIUM's Cover - Pre-Order Giveaway! INTERNATIONAL

Cover you have to recreate. |
Hi everyone! How are you? Still anxiously awaiting for PANDEMONIUM's release, like us? I thought so. That's why I came up with this super fun giveaway!
Here's how this is going to work:
- You'll have from right now until Jan 1st, 2012 to enter. That's five months to plan, make and send us the cover.
- On that day (Jan 1st), we'll stop receiving entries and later that week we'll post all of the photos we got up until that point, so you can tell everyone to stop by and vote for your cover.
- The five covers with the most points by Feb 15th will be jugded by us (Reg, Bonnie, Marisa, Cary and I) and, ultimately, by Lauren. (Meaning, your cover will be up for voting until Feb 15th).
- We'll choose a winner, and announce it here on March 1st.
- The winner will get a Hardcover copy of PANDEMONIUM on Mar 6th (if The Book Depository delivers properly), its release date!
What you have to do: (the important stuff)
Take a picture of yourself (or, if you're a boy, it can be a friend, a sister, anyone!) recreating PANDEMONIUM's cover. You can use dried leaves and flowers around your face to get the look of the cover, but it doesn't necessarily have to be exactly like the original. Respect the orange tones! And do what you want about the title, have fun with it!
Remember you have time to enter, don't rush into making something you won't like later. Take several pics to choose from.
The Fine Print:
- (EDITED) This giveaway will be open Internationally, as long as The Book Depository ships to your country. (Thanks prettybooks!)
- You'll be emailing the cover you made to deliriouslyfalling@hotmail.com by Jan 1st, 2012 with all your contact info (mailing address, name/alias you'd like us to share if you win, blog address if you have one). No contact info, no entry.
- I reserve the right to modify any dates published on this post. I also reserve the right to call off the giveaway if we have less than 15 entrants. There needs to be plenty of us, so we can have fun!
- We'll have just one winner, which will win the grand prize (a Pre-Order for a Hardcover copy of PANDEMONIUM). But I'd stay tuned if I were you. Who knows, maybe we'll add a second and third prize.
Get creative! Have fun! Can't wait to see your covers!

Ella
PANDEMONIUM'S COVER IS OUT!
9:01 AM Posted by Ella Preuss
And WOAH! Isn't it a beautiful cover?
I'm in awe. Love that they've kept the theme of the Special Edition's cover :)
These covers have something that make me want to keep staring at them, they possibly are among the best-looking covers I've ever seen, and I'm not just saying it because I love the books.
Delirious Girls, what say you of this cover? Approved? Disapproved?
Share your thoughts, everyone!
xo,
Ella
Marisa: Wow, this is gorgeous! I seriously LOVE it. And it's cool how it matches the special edition cover and all.... but I tend to wish they made one that matched the original cover. I'm a tad OCD like that.
Nevertheless, this is beautiful. Though I'm not surprised. The design team at HarperTeen always comes up with these breathtaking covers. I knew this book would be no different. Love it!
Lauren talks about the reactions to Pandemonium's summary
10:03 PM Posted by Ella Preuss
As it was expected, PANDEMONIUM's recently released summary made us all tremble in anticipation and delight.
Many of us are hoping, begging to the gods of literature, that Alex is okay and that he and Lena can be reunited. But the new summary may be telling us that there's a new love in Lena's horizon.
A lot of fans have approached Lauren, to ask her about this new developments. Here's what she had to say:
The release of the goodreads summary of PANDEMONIUM has, appropriately enough, inspired its own bit of pandemonium! I've been deluged with facebook messages and tweets about the direction of the series--some expressing excitement, some disapproval, and some anger. So I wanted to take this opportunity to respond.
I'm actually super grateful for all the discussion, dialogue, and debate; it proves how richly my fans have become invested in the world of Delirium, in Alex, and Lena, and Alex and Lena together; it proves, too, how strongly books begin to belong to the readers themselves, to their mental and emotional landscapes. Readers make predictions; they stake their hopes on certain outcomes.
I totally get it. I, too, feel that way about books I love. And I want to say: thank you for reading, and thank you for caring so much.
I also want to say--please be patient with me, with Lena, and with the unfolding of the story. Pandemonium took me to some very unexpected places. It is a different book from Delirium, just as Requiem will be a different book than the ones that preceded it. I need to follow the thread of the character; I need to be authentic to her growth. Lena lived through a deeply traumatic experience--her vision of the world needs enrichment and expansion. She is a young woman on the cusp of great change.
Please have a little faith! :) I promise, promise, promise, that ultimately I do not think my fans will be disappointed by the direction of the series, although I also promise that in my novels, as in life, there may be many twists, turns, and bumps in the road before we hit any truly happy endings.
But of course, it must be that way. As old Billy Shakespeare so eloquently said: The course of true love never did run smooth.
I can honestly say that I trust Lauren, and I know I'll end up loving PANDEMONIUM, no matter where she takes Lena.
Don't you love to suffer along with books' characters? I do.

Ella

First PANDEMONIUM Summary Revealed!
11:39 PM Posted by Bonnie @ A Backwards Story

Why should you care?
The synopsis for PANDEMONIUM is finally here:
Lauren Oliver captivated readers with DELIRIUM, the first book in a thrilling dystopian trilogy in which Lena Haloway dared to fall in love with Alex and escape the cure, the government-mandated procedure that renders a person immune to the disease of love. Lena and Alex staked their lives on leaving their oppressive society, but only Lena broke free.
PANDEMONIUM continues Lena’s gripping story. After escaping from Portland, Maine, Lena makes it to the Wilds and becomes part of an Invalid community, where she transforms herself into a warrior for the resistance. A future without Alex is unimaginable, but Lena pushes forward and fights, both for him and for a world in which love is no longer considered a disease. Swept up in a volatile mix of revolutionaries and counterinsurgents, Lena struggles to survive—and wonders if she may be falling in love again.
Full of danger, forbidden romance, and exquisite writing, Lauren Oliver’s sequel to Delirium races forward at a breathtaking pace and is sure to appeal to fans who crave the high-stakes action of THE HUNGER GAMES and the bittersweet love story of ROMEO AND JULIET.
The only bad news? The Strict on Sale Street Date is currently set for March 6, 2012, not February like we all thought. That’s an extra month of waiting for PANDEMONIUM!
The cover has yet to be revealed, but DELIRIOUSLY FALLING will reveal it to you as soon as it’s available, so keep checking back!
PANDEMONIUM expected to be released Feb 2012
10:37 PM Posted by Ella Preuss
According to an interview with Lauren, Requiem, book Three, will be released in February 2013. So every book in the Series will be released in February months! That's awesome.
And if you haven't read Lauren's latest post, she's having a L.A. themed challenge, where you have to write 200-300 words using the sentence: "The thing they never tell you about Hollywood--it may be the city of dreams, but it's also the city of nightmares."
We have new features coming up on the blog. Stay tuned!
